Summer is finally here!
We are kicking off our 5th season in Port Renfrew and cannot wait to get on the water to see some incredible marine wildlife. June has already come with stunning blue skies and beach worthy temperatures. Port Renfrew is mostly known for it’s torrential rain and roaring winter storms, but now our short window into summer has arrived. Excitement is growing in anticipation of our first voyages to take out new and returning guests into this remote ocean wilderness. Experience the stunning glacier carved shores, ancient forests, and abundance of wildlife unlike any other area on the island.
New to the area? Wondering what makes whale watching in Port Renfrew stand apart? As the only company operating out of the area you can expect an intimate experience with incredible beauty along this remote west coast region. Sightings regularly include large groups of humpback whales, feeding gray whales along the shoreline, and hunting/travelling killer whales. Not to mention so many other unique marine animals such as, pacific white sided dolphins that have been spotted every June since we started in 2017, usually travelling in groups of 100+ individuals. As well as, 4 pinniped (seal and sealion) species and of course, the playful Dall’s porpoise who are the shy cousins seen swimming between waves.
Are you a birder? We have learned that this area is fantastic for sought after pelagic birds species! We see birds such as tufted puffins, sandhill cranes, sooty shearwaters, laysan albatross, and brown pelicans just to name a few of our favorites.
If you are looking for something different, remote, wild and adventurous – then we look forward to taking you out on the voyage of a lifetime to experience the true rugged west coast!
