Humpback Whales & Transient Orcas
September 6, 2018
We started out our day heading South in search of humpback. It was a beautiful morning with the Olympic mountain range just ahead of us and the Vancouver island coast line behind. We were able to view a couple of humpbacks
Today was a busy afternoon at Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. We started our tour by making our way through Race to look at the seals, sea lions, and to take a look for our one sea otter (Ollie). While coming through race we popped in to the bay on the west side of William Head to watch Gherkin, our young humpback star of the season, when we noticed a group of transient Orca coming in from the west, luckily Gherkin vacated the area to let them pass through. The transient group had killed 2 seal while making their way along the shoreline and we had slowly followed them on their journey along the coast line as we headed back into Victoria.
