April 20, 2016 – Hunting Transients!
April 20, 2016
Heading almost straight south out of Victoria harbour, soon found us upon a large group of transient killer whales. The T36’s and T99’s. We arrived just in time to witness a hunt! Although no prey was visible at the surface we watched for over 30 minutes as the group clearly displayed their superb hunting. Mirroring each other in every direction. Splitting off into groups only to rejoin head on it what could only have been the prey they were chasing. As the hunt came to a finish the real fun had yet to begin. Huge breaches every direction including a synchronized triple breach!! It was a humbling and breath taking experience. With much regret we had to make our way back to the harbour. This will be a trip forever remembered.
