March 18, 2016 – Spring is Here!
March 18, 2016
A northerly wind had us gliding down the 2 foot swells on our way in search of wildlife. With previous sightings of whales to the south we soon found our way at Race Rocks ecological marine reserve. With so much of our wildlife migrating in and out of the area you never know what you’ll see. Lucky for us everyone was having a party at their favourite lighthouse. Bald eagles, stellar sea lions, California sea lions, and Harbour seals. Thumbs in the air signalling to the driver how much fun the exhilarating ride of the zodiac is we rocketed off to the southwest. Even with the wind at our backs everyone stayed dry and with the sun high in the sky it made for a beautiful day. Turning the boat back for a close up look at the shoreline in search of transient killer whales one of my favourite views appeared. Mount Baker in all its glory thanks to those pristine clear skies. With the Olympic Mountains to our right snow capped and standing proud it’s not hard to see why so many people love to head out on the water to get an authentic look at the Pacific Northwest.
